Samsung Mobiles Complaint

Samsung Galaxy 5

My son, who is very careful with his phone and has a protective case on the phone, received the update information. He updated the phone and DISASTER followed.
The phone began to overheat. Very hot and losing charge quickly. The phone overheated and caused a hairline crack in the top of the screen.
We went into the Verizon Corporate store in our local mall. As soon as we explained that the phone was overheating, the CSR took the phone from my sons hand and said that it is something that has been happening to everyone's phone since the update was downloaded. In less than a minute, he went into the settings and solved the problem. However, not before we were stuck with a phone with a hairline crack across the TOP of the screen of the phone. So, we figured we would live with it.
Two days later, when the phone died, my son went to charge it and received a message "incompatible charger". Thinking it was just a problem with the charger, 3 other chargers were tried and they all said the same thing. Now the phone was completely dead and we couldn't charge it.

Returned to the Corporate Store today and as soon as we said the message was "incompatible charger" the CSR said, "Wow I had another guy come in yesterday with the same problem". The overheating of the battery kills the charging port on the BOTTOM of the phone.
NOW, after 7 1/2 hours of fighting on the phones with everyone, I finally had to pay and go through insurance to get the phone replaced because the hairline crack at the top of the screen, WHICH WAS CAUSED BY THE PHONE OVERHEATING, WHICH WAS CAUSED BY THE UPDATE, voided out the warranty on this phone that was still under the one year warranty.

Samsung said they would send me a box to send the phone to them and they would repair the phone. This would all take 9 to 11 business days. However, I have cancer and have had 34 surgeries and explained that my son cannot go without a phone for that long in case I need to contact him for an emergency. They told me they don't give lender phones and could not send me a new phone because they don't send phones to consumers, just businesses. SERIOUSLY????? This was very upsetting and I can tell you right now, that this hurt really bad because I am on SSD and that money I spent to pay the insurance to replace the phone, so my son could have his phone tomorrow, was my grocery money! Not to mention all of the minutes which were eaten up on my phone plan all day long trying to resolve this. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!
